ALNAP

Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance (ALNAP) has released Action Learning for Frontline Humanitarians: a resource pack. The pack is for programme staff who are implementing projects, staff in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) roles who are collecting data and evaluating projects, and for team leaders or managers who work with them. Individuals, project teams or cross-organisational and inter-agency groups can all use this approach. See here for details.

Action Learning: Research and Practice

The Action Learning: Research and Practice Journal, in conjunction with International Foundation for Action Learning (IFAL), is conducting the 2023 International Action Learning Conference with the theme of Action Learning and Innovation. The conference will be on 17-19 April 2023.

CARN Conference

CARN held its 2022 conference in Dublin, Ireland on 28-30 October, 2022, with the theme of Changing Lives through Action Research. More details - see CARN's website.

CARN has launched a publishing opportunity - a rich and collaborative space for voices to be heard more publicly, where we can share and celebrate the rich potential of action research in supporting authentic and relevant practice-learning. See here for more information.

The 30th CEEMAN Annual Conference was held on 21 - 23 September 2022 in Bled, Slovenia, with a theme of Understanding the Big Picture Surrounding the Future of Management Education.

Cornell University - Action Research Collaborative

The Colleges of Human Ecology (CHE) and Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) have launched the Action Research Collaborative (ARC) that supports the Lewinian tradition of bringing together researchers, practitioners, community members, and policymakers to address pressing issues in society. More information is available here. The leaders of the Action Research Collaborative (ARC), Dr Neil Lewis (CALS) and Dr Tashara M. Leak (CHE), have also released a video.

EURAM 2023 Conference - Transforming Business for Good

The 2023 conference of EURAM (European Academy of Management) will be held at the Trinity Business School, Trinity College in Dublin (Ireland) from 14 until 16 June 2023. See here for more information.

The last IFAL event for 2022 was held on 16 November 2022, with the topic of The rise and growth of Revans' model and the future of 'classic' action learning with Mike Pedler and John Edmonstone. Next year's programme is pending.

ISA

International Sociological Association

The ISA is holding its next World Congress in Melbourne Australia on 25 June to 1 July 2023. One of the large number of streams is Action-Research for Participation and Empowerment.

Lowitja Institute

The Lowitja Institute announced the 3rd International Indigenous Health & Wellbeing Conference 2023 on 14-16 June 2023, and the release of the Indigenous Nation Building and the Political Determinants of Health and Wellbeing Discussion Paper. There will also be opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisations to apply for major grants of up to $200,000.

WERA

World Education Research Association

WERA announced that the Education Association of South Africa (EASA) will be hosting their 2023 Conference at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the Two Oceans Graduate Institute on 8 - 11 January 2023, with call for submissions now open. See here for more details.

The Educational Research Association of Singapore (ERAS) is planning the 2023 annual focal meeting Forging Ahead: Transforming Education in a Rapidly Changing World, with the call for proposals commenced, and the meeting in Singapore on 22-24 November 2023. More information here.

WERA Mentoring Programme

The WERA Doctoral and Early Career Scholars Network (DEC) provides doctoral and early career scholars with an opportunity to network with and meet each other. As a part of this effort, WERA aims to develop an innovative, online-based Mentorship Programme, that links senior scholars and postdoctoral educational researchers who share a common research interest. World Conference on Qualitative Research

The 7th World Conference on Qualitative Research (WCQR2023) will be held from 25th to 27th January 2023 in the Algarve (Portugal) and online.

WCQR is an annual event that brings together researchers, academics, and professionals, promoting the sharing of knowledge, new perspectives, experiences, and innovations in the field of Qualitative Research. Each edition brings together researchers from 30+ countries, world-renowned authors, and research groups sharing their experiences in the field, making the WCQR one of the most relevant platforms for discussing and disseminating the best scientific production in QR.

The organising committee invites research teams to submit Panel Discussion Proposals, and has call for papers closing 30 September 2022.

Book Launch: Socially Responsible Higher Education: International Perspectives on Knowledge Democracy

The UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education hosted the launch of Socially Responsible Higher Education: International Perspectives on Knowledge Democracy, co-edited by the UNESCO Co-Chairs Dr. Budd Hall and Dr. Rajesh Tandon.

This book shares the experiences of a broadly representative and globally dispersed set of writers on higher education and social responsibility, broadening perspectives on the democratisation of knowledge.
