ALARA Conference 2026

The ALARA Board are pleased to announce details of the 2026 ALARA Conference, which will be held at the University of Melbourne, Carlton, Victoria, Australia (Carlton is a suburb immediately north of Melbourne).

The conference will be on Tuesday 29^th and Wednesday 30^th September 2026. The theme for this year's conference is Action Learning and Action Research for Sustainable and Inclusive Futures.

Full details and submission form for presenters are available on the ALARA Conference web pages. Please put these dates in your diary to join us in Melbourne.

Action Research Community of Practice

The second meeting of the Auckland CoP for 2026 continued the discussion on ethics. The next meeting will be on Wednesday 25 March 2026 at 1.00 pm in New Zealand, 11.00 am in Eastern Australia Summer Time (10.00 am in Queensland, 10.30 am in South Australia and 8.00 am in Western Australia), 8.00 am in Manila, Midnight in London, and 8.00 pm Tuesday March 24th in Eastern USA. At the meeting, Kelly McCallum from AUT will discuss her thesis project.

Action Research Essentials MOOC

Dr Marina Harvey and the team working on the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) are hoping to receive more feedback on the usability / functionality of any of the modules (sessions). The MOOC is self-paced and participants can leave and return to complete a module at any time that suits them.

Registrations are now open for you to participate in one or more of the online, self-paced modules of your choice.

Please contact ALARA (admin@alarassociation.org) to receive the registration details. As you progress through the MOOC you will be invited to provide your feedback.

Action Learning, Action Research Association Monographs

Monographs' Editor, Prof. Eileen Piggot-Irvine, is seeking potential monographs for publication to add to the series she has been developing. Monographs provide an opportunity for authors to publish quality refereed work that is more extensive than the length of a conventional paper. They are 8,000 - 16,000 words and are published as a separate booklet. See here for more information. If you have a potential paper for submission, or need further information, please contact ALARA.
